Handstand

At Mushin Movement, our handstand classes are designed for those who want to achieve handbalancing. Develop the shoulder strength required, work towards having control and precision, and achieve skill mastery through structured progressions.

Our handstand classes are suitable for:
  • Beginners who are new to being upside down
  • Intermediate trainees working towards freestanding balance
  • Advanced practitioners training on greater mastery and complex skills such as handstand presses

​What You’ll Train On in Our Handstand Classes

Our handstand training focuses on building the capacity needed to hold a handstand, delivering various skills with it competently.

You'll work on:
  • Overhead shoulder strength
  • Wrists strengthening and improving load tolerance
  • Balance drills and precision in kick-ups
  • Stacking the body in various handstand lines and shapes
  • Wall-supported and freestanding handstand progressions

How Our Handstand Classes Are Structured

Each handstand class follows a clear framework:
  • Preparation: wrists and shoulders conditioning
  • Strength: targeted drills to build capacity
  • Skill: handstand progressions appropriate to your level

Classes are coach-led, with individual feedback so you are always training exactly on what you need.

Handstand Basics

For those new on their hands and unable to kick up to the wall consistently.

​Build foundational strength, body awareness, and confidence to be on your hands. Train through essential drills and wall-supported work to develop an understanding of handbalancing.
Handstand

For those working on balance and exploring various shapes

Prerequisites
You should be able to:
  • kick up to the wall consistently
  • hold chest-to-wall for 30 secs
Handstand II

​For those training on presses, transitions, and more

Prerequisites
You should:
  • be able to tuck jump to the wall consistently
  • have experience in balancing in a straight handstand and bailing out from it
